Every Friday at John's school is called Fruit Friday. A different child in the class brings fruit for the children to have for snack that day. Last Friday was John's turn to bring fruit. John and I decided to make a turkey out of fruit! John was so excited about this turkey! We got up early and put him together. He couldn't wait to take it to school!
This would also be cute for a kids' table Thanksgiving centerpiece! Easy and fun to make!
Today John had his Thanksgiving Feast at school. He was to bring a can or piece of fruit to help make the Friendship Fruit Salad. He wanted to take pineapple but didn't want it in a can, so we picked up some fresh pineapple at Kroger. :)
He has also been talking all week about being so busy at school! He said he had lots to make and do! And now I see! When I dropped him off this morning, he was John Jennings, but when I picked him up he was Chief Red Arrow! He is so very proud of this ensemble! He also loved him name, Chief Red Arrow! He told me what each child in his class was named, Chief Little Deer, Chief Blue Fish, Chief Brave Hunter, Chief Red Fox, Princess Butterfly, Princess White Rabbit, Princess Lady Bug, Princess Sunflower. I couldn't believe he remembered all their names! Ha!
What a cute Indian Chief!

That's a really fun fruit dish for the kids!! John looks so cute--he looks proud of his costume!
He also helped make the cornbread dressing for the traditional "turkey roll-ups. You know there were pictures. This week indians...next week pilgrims!
I 100% remember Thanksgiving feast week at my elementary school (17 years ago-- holy moly)! I seriously looked forward to it all year! Glad to see the brown paper bag fests and class meals are still alive and kicking :) John looks so proud of his little outfit-- I don't even know him and think it's so cute that he prefers the fresh pineapple to canned. You're a great mom to do little, extra things like this for them, Gretchan!
