Silent Mice, Holy Mice

Ramsey had his school Christmas performance this week.  It was so cute and sweet!  Ramsey was a shepherd.  John went and watched the program with us.  This was before the performance.  John was sooo proud to be there.  We actually got to school SUPER early that day.  Ramsey was the second child in his classroom so he was dressed and ready to go before most kids got there.  We got to sit on the front row!
"Joseph knew he had to heed the Emperor's decree.  So he and Mary set out from the land of Galilee."

What a precious shepherd!

The entire first grade. Silent Mice, Holy Mice tells the story of how the world's most beloved Christmas Carol, Silent Night, came to be written.

My favorite shepherd in front of the Jesse Tree in the middle of his school.  The Jesse Tree represents Jesus' family tree.  The name is taken from Isaiah 11:1, in which Jesus is referred to as a shoot coming up from the stump of Jesse, the father of David.  The ornaments on the Jesse tree tell of Jesus' ancestors and of the events leading to Jesus' birth.  Each child in the school has an ornament on the Jesse Tree.

At school, Ramsey enjoys learning about the true meaning of Christmas.  He is taught this each and every day through Chapel and Godly Play.  Through the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I'm thankful for this!  I'm thankful for his school.

A quick word about his shoes...The shepherds were asked to wear brown leather sandals.  No bright colored crocs!  Ramsey did not have any brown leather sandals that fit or any sandals at all for that matter.  He wore crocs all summer.  Yes even to church!  Where would I find brown leather sandals this time of year?  I asked a few people and while a friend had some that would definitely work, they were not brown leather.  So I kept my eye out for some.  While in Walmart a few days before the play, I browsed through the shoe isle and spotted these!  The last pair on clearance for $5!  You never know what you may find at Walmart!
